Wrightsville Beach is a popular beach community. Residents and visitors use the ocean front beaches for everything from swimming to parasailing. Wrightsville has been rebuilt 3 times since colonization. It was destroyed by the Great Fire of 1934, destroyed twice after being hit by hurricanes at high tide on a full moon in 1899 and 1954.
