Westward Beach in front of Zuma Creek
Malibu, California, United States
One of the largest and most popular beaches in Los Angeles County, almost three miles long, it is known for its long and wide stretches of sand and excellent surf conditions. Several premier surfing events are held here each year. It consistently ranks among the healthiest beaches for clean water conditions. Great daily afternoon winds at the north end are a draw for kite surfers. Swimmers, snorkelers, surfers, paddle boarders, and body boarders enjoy the great conditions, but you must always be aware of the rip-currents. Westward is very family friendly, is has 14 lifeguard towers, restrooms, showers, a snack bar, volley ball nets, handicapped access, lots of paid parking spaces, and on street parking. The television series “Baywatch” was filmed here and the main lifeguard tower was built by the production company and donated to the county at the end of the series.
