Located in West Ashley off of Folly Road, the Wappoo Cut Boat Ramp is a popular spot for visitors and locals, as it connects to the Wappoo Creek, Stono River, and Ashley River. With a large free parking lot and accessible spots, two ADA accessible floating docks, and a small shelter with picnic tables, it’s easy to see why this boat ramp is so popular. Do not litter, clean or dispose of fish/shrimp/crabs/oysters, swim, have alcohol or drugs, park or abandon boats for more than 72 hours, or tie to boat landing for more than 15 minutes. The Wappoo Cut Boat Ramp is the perfect place to start your coastal expedition off right!

Wappoo Creek was named after the Wappoo Indians, who once lived alongside the creek. The creek is also the site of Bluff Plantation. This is where Eliza Lucas first cultivated indigo, a plant that would become South Carolina’s primary cash crop throughout the 18th century. The Wappoo Creek serves as a connection between the Ashley River and the Stono River, and runs under the Connector and Wappoo Creek Bridge.
