Waitarere Beach is located between the Manawatu River mouth and Levin and is fast becoming 'the' holiday location on the Horowhenua Coast. The beach is wide and sandy, and buried under the dunes is a gigantic, historic shipwreck Hydrabad, marked by a huge blue post. The beach has plenty of safe paddling space for children, slowly dropping off into deep water and is patrolled in the summer months.
