Waitangi Springs (also known as Waitangi Soda Springs) are bush lined, natural bathing sanctuaries used by M?ori for centuries for their healing properties. Rotorua is one of the most active geothermal regions in the world with pockets of geothermal pools throughout the area. Steam rises from these springs and a mix of hot and cold currents wash by helping to relax and rejuvenate bathers. Along with many other minerals the hot springs have very high iron content that often stains clothing and swimwear.
