The Waioeka River flows for 65 km, from Te Urewera National Park until it reaches Opotiki Harbour. It shares its estuary with the Otara River. This intricate water system is perfect for kayaker and canoeing.

Located downstream from extensive productive dairy farms, there are numerous places to access this wide shingle bedded river as it passes by ?p?tiki. Recreational uses may include fishing, swimming, kayaking.
