Waimea River mouth -Lucy Wright Park
Waimea, Hawaii, United States

Waimea River Mouth is an estuary within Lucy Wright Park, where Captain Cook first landed in Hawaii in 1778. The park is named after Waimea community leader and the first native Hawaiian school teacher. At times, the water can be murky at this location due to the river flow. This is the launch location for the Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Club. This is a convenient campling location for Waimea Town, but make sure you get a permit from the County. Parking is free, there are bathrooms within the park, along with a picnic area, but no lifeguard or concession.
