Wailua Beach is located along Kuhio Hwy (Route 56) just north of the Wailua River bridge. Wailua is a narrow strip of beach that is not lifeguarded, approximately 0.4 miles long, with parking lots and portable toilets at both ends. On the north end, there is an outdoor shower. This location often shows the effect of polluted water discharge from the Wailua river, while the north end gets more of clean ocean swell. This beach is good for fishing, surfing, wind surfing, and kite-surfing.
