Just to the north of Christchurch, Waikuku beach is located where the Ashley empties into the ocean. The beach offers decent surfing during the season, and the light sand is perfect for relaxing upon after a swim. Toilets and showers are available close by. Drivers take care, as some of the parking spaces close to the beach may be designated for specific local businesses and their guests.

Sandy beach with waves located east of Waikuku township. This beach is popular with locals and camp goers in the summer time. Suitable for swimming and surfing. Sampled in front of the surf life saving building. Monitored weekly between November-March by Environment Canterbury.
