Waikowhai Bay

Waikowhai come from the M?ori language. Wai means water and kowhai is a native tree with hanging, bright yellow flowers. This park now the largest area of native forest in Auckland City and provides ideal habitat for native birds such as the tui, kingfisher and rosellas. The valley lights up in the spring from the yellow flowers from kowhai trees. Facilities include a beach campground, children's playground, ample parking, boat launch and walking trails.
