8 km of golden sand lines Tokomaru Bay at this beach. Popular activities include swimming, surfing, fishing and camping. Freedom camp area can be found at the northern end of the bay on Beach Road in the middle of the bay on Mere Street and on the southern end of the bay on Waiotu Road. Water quality can be affected by runoff from farms surrounding Mangahauimi Stream, which flows here.
