Thunder Lake PP has a good beach area that is large and sandy with a grassy area, picnic tables and playground. The marked swimming area and lake have suffered from declining water levels and there have been visitor reports of a lot of algal growth and leeches in the Summer in recent years. The campground and day use areas have all the required amenities including a playground for a day or two at the beach but water quality and comfort due to algae could be an issue.
