Located on the Kapiti Coast Te Horo Beach is popular for walkers but can be very dangerous to swim at due to large swells and the steep pebbly incline.

Caution is advised in the area where the Mangaone Stream discharges freshwater across the beach due to ongoing contamination issues. A health warning sign has been erected in the vicinity of the stream mouth. The coastal area on either side of the freshwater discharge is generally suitable for recreational activities.

There is plenty of parking at this site with, toilets and changing rooms.

This site is monitored as a part of Greater Wellington Regional Council’s Recreational Water Quality Monitoring Programme, which is specifically designed to inform the public about the suitability of various sites across the region for swimming and other recreational activities.
