Takapuna Beach

Takapuna Beach is mid point along the North Shore Coastal Walk. This urban, tree lined sandy beach is public transit accessible, boasts a large boat ramp and has ample parking. The beach is popular location for residence and tourists for swimming, picnicking and water sports. Public toilets and change rooms are available and a campground is adjacent to the beach for those who wish to stay overnight. Visitors have spotted dolphins, Orca's and even blue penguins from the beach.
Lake Pupuke, a volcanic crater filled with freshwater, is walking distance from the beach. It is a well known sailing and canoeing spot. Pumphouse Theatre, a centre for performing and visual arts featuring local artists over looks the lake for additional entertainment. The Takapuna Farmers market operates every Sunday from 6 am - noon at the corner of Anzac Street and Lake Road.
