The majority of Kiawah Island is a private gated residential community. Its 10-mile long sandy beach is known for its natural tranquility. The only public access to the beach is at Beachwalker Park, which is managed by Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission. During the summer, the park is open from 9AM-8PM. The park has ADA accessible bathrooms, changing rooms, showers, parking, and ramps to the beach. Parking is $8 for standard vehicles. Lifeguards are on duty in the swimming zone during the summer. Dogs must be leashed at all times. Boats, surfboards, and motorized watercraft are not permitted in designated swimming zones. Do not litter, bring glass/plastic/polystyrene on the beach, or disturb sea turtle nests or dunes. If you are visitor, Beachwalker Park is a quaint area to spend some fun, relaxing time on the beach!
