Sound Beach POA West
Sound Beach, New York, United States
On the north shore of Long Island lies the tiny hamlet of Sound Beach. Sound Beach Property Owners’ Association (SBPOA) is a community-based organization managed by volunteers for the benefit of Sound Beach, whose mission is to provide a safe and healthy environment for its members to enjoy the sea and sand. Sound Beach has the longest shore front of any private beach in the area. SBPOA offers stairs to residents of the town for access to the beach. Passes are required from July 4 of every year until August 31. Beach terrain is sandy along the cliffs and gradually becomes rockier along the immediate shoreline. Many small fish and other aquatic animals live in the sand. Amenities include restrooms, showers, a clubhouse, and a playground. There used to be a pavilion but sadly it collapsed due to a heavy rainstorm and erosion and was never rebuilt. This is a Tier I beach.
