Shirley Beach is located in Shirley, in the Town of Brookhaven on the South Shore of Long Island. Like most of the South Shore beaches, Shirley Beach is a sandy beach facing the Bellport bay.

If you are looking for bigger scenery facing the Atlantic ocean, Fire Island's National Seashore is just a couple of minutes car ride away, past the Smith Point Bridge. Popular activities on this island specifically on the western side of the island, which holds Robert Moses State Park, include boating and sailing, fishing, surfing, and swimming. This is a Tier II beach.
