The Shell Beach community is situated atop a cliff top overlooking some of California’s most beautiful coastline. The beach is bordered to the east by residences, several hotels and restaurants and California’s Highway 101. Although not easily accessible, many tourists enjoying taking a trip down the winding steps for a better view of the beach and to take a look at the many tide pools. The beach is also a popular launching point for many Kayakers. Limited parking is available along the streets, mostly near residences, and there are no public facilities which are readily accessible from the beach. However, a playground, parking, and restroom facilities are located nearer to Highway 101.
