Sandy Bar Beach is in the Interlake on Lake Winnipeg, 5.5 km east of the full service community of Riverton, Manitoba. It is 130 km north of Winnipeg on Highway 8, on Provincial Road 329. The beach is natural, with no development other than the road that takes you there. A long sand bar extends out into the Lake, giving the beach its name. Pack a picnic and enjoy the beauty of this remote shoreline!

Considered an important bird area of Canada, Sandy Bar Beach is excellent for viewing waterfowl. The ring billed gull nests at Sandy Bar Beach. The sandy beach is also an ideal swimming spot. The nearby town of Riverton was orginally Aboriginal hunting grounds, then was settled by Icelandic explorers in 1876. The town of Riverton has a heritage museum to learn more about the area's history and culture.
