Sand Key is a park located on the edge of Clearwater Pass so it is a short drive over the pass bridge to Clearwater Beach. Sand Key is an oasis surrounded in a sea of high rise condos and hotels. This park is a common destination for athletic activities. People visit for beach/paved park runs and open water swims. Sand Key park also has a dog park and lifeguard on duty during parts of the year. This beach is very deep from water to the metered parking lot and includes sand dunes and sea oats and is bordered on the north side by a long jetty. This can be a great beach for a more low-key beach day and can be a good location for shelling.

Over the bridge to Clearwater Beach, many restaurants, bars, hotels, activities and shops are available. Clearwater Beach is a tourist heavy location and any beach activity is available there.
