Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park is located on the easternmost tip of Franklin County’s largest barrier island. The park consists of 1,926 acres and won awards for its beaches in 2011. A plethora of nature studies and wildlife viewings await visitors. Camping, fishing, swimming, kayaking/canoeing and hiking are a few of the varied activities enjoyed. Miles of undeveloped beaches beckon those wishing to explore and wander. Operating hours are 8 a.m. to sunset, year-round. Admission/fee schedule fee applies. Onsite amenities include picnic shelters with grills, full facility campsites, primitive camping, restrooms and natural boat launches. The park often hosts events and festivities.
