The Ruamahanga River at Te Ore Ore is located on the Ruamahanga River immediately east of Masterton and is accessed via Oliver Road. This site is a good example of how the water quality of the river can be good from an environmental health perspective, but is not always good for swimming. The site is monitored as a part of two separate programmes; the Recreational Water Quality Programme, which informs the public about the suitability of sites for recreational activities, as well as the Rivers Environmental Monitoring Programme, which is designed to measure the environmental health of rivers and streams.
