Rocky Bayou State Park
Niceville, Florida, United States

Rocky Bayou is a northern trailing arm of Choctawhatchee Bay and is bordered by the Rocky Bayou Aquatic Preserve. While known as a boating and fishing area, the park hosts old growth longleaf pines. Some trees are over 300 years old, and their preservation is partially contributed to the efforts of U.S. Air Force Colonel Fred Gannon. Wildlife viewing, hiking trails, interpretive exhibits, bicycling, full facility camping, picnicking and canoeing/kayaking are popular. Admission/use fee schedule applies. Operating hours are 8 a.m. to sunset, year-round. No lifeguard is on duty. Onsite amenities include canoe/kayak rentals, picnic pavilions, two lane boat launch, restrooms and showers. Grounds are available for reservations/rentals, and large gatherings are welcomed. Fishing regulations/licenses may apply. Photo courtesy of John Michael Finn.
