Rennell Sound is the largest sound on west coast of Haida Gwaii. It is located on western side of Graham Island, about 25 km northwest of Queen Charlotte City, and is bordered by the Queen Charlotte Mountains. Rennell Sound is the only area on the western coast of the island accessible by road; however, this road has a 24% gradient and should not be attempted by large campers or trailers. The sound is a beautiful area for hiking, diving, fishing, and beachcombing. With only the Northern Pacific Ocean separating Japan and Rennell Sound, one can find interesting things on the beaches. There are several camping areas near Queen Charlotte City.
