Radio Island Beach (C57)
Beaufort, North Carolina, United States
The swimming area is on a long stretch of beautiful white sand and is perfect for swimming or strolling. Radio Island is a well known diving spot. From July - September, and sometimes even into October, divers have spotted juvenile and adult sergeant majors, butterflyfish, angelfish flounder, spadefish, triggerfish and sheepshead. When divers search holes formed by the rocks, oyster toadfish and stone crabs can be seen hiding. Even the rocks themselves are beautiful to see. They are covered with yellow, orange, pink and white soft corals and sponges. Sea urchins are also very common so be careful not to get pricked. The island is home to diving stores, marina's and a fishing pier.
