Pot Rocks, located in the Central Area of Gunpowder Falls State Park off Belair Road in Baltimore County, features a swimming hole in a wide stretch of the Big Gunpowder that visitors can reach with a 25 yard hike down the main Gunpowder Trail. This area gets its name from the small dimples on top of the large rocks. These "pots" were formed long ago due to currents that swirled the water and eroded the rock away.

We sample at Pot Rocks as a reference site that lies midpoint between the Loch Raven dam and Joppa.

Although Pot Rocks is frequented by hikers, swimmers, and kayakers, there are no lifeguards in the area.
