Poplar Beach
Half Moon Bay, California, United States

Poplar Beach overlooks Half Moon Bay and can be accessed via Poplar Street off of Highway 1, where there is a small parking lot. A resident permit is required to park, or you can pay by the hour at the automated pay station. Rates are $2 per hour or $10 per day ($3 per hour or $15 per day for vehicles longer than 20 feet). A $50.00 yearly permit is available to all City of Half Moon Bay residents. Great spot for beachgoers and a picnic on the beach. There is a paved trail along the beach that offers beautiful views of the ocean, with benches along the view points. Some of the cliffs in the area are as high as 80 feet. This is one of the only beaches in the Bay area that allows horses, and it's a great spot for dogs too. There's even a section of the parking lot for horse trailers. Watch out for the piles of horse poo, though.
