Pony Pasture Park is a great section of the James for multiple water recreation purposes. There are multiple shaded walking trails with some little-known swimming areas. Pony Pasture has a boat ramp for paddlers to access the class 1 and 2 rapids, but swimming at the ramp is not permitted. There are bathrooms and a large parking lot.
