Point O'Woods Association- Bay
Bay Shore, New York, United States
Point O'Woods is a private vacation retreat located on Fire Island in Bay Shore. Members and guests are the only ones allowed through the hamlet's gate, or allowed to use the private ferry from Bay Shore on Long Island to Point O'Woods.
Point O'Woods was originally organized in 1894 for religious retreats. When the group organizing these retreats went bankrupt, the ownership was passed to the Point O' Woods Association, which administers it today as a summer vacation retreat. Visitors should know that no cars are allowed past Point O'Woods as bicycles and wagons are the only mean of transportation.
Through the years Point O'Woods was able to maintain an old world charm of a private and cozy beach community for families who have come to spend their vacation in Long Island sunbathing and swimming in the bay or the ocean.
This is a Tier II beach.
