Pebble Beach is located in Pescadero, extending from Año Nuevo State Reserve to Thornton State Beach. The name "Pebble" was given to the beach because of the numerous pebbles of chipped quartz you can find from an offshore reef, tumbled ashore, then wave-polished and rounded into beautifully hued small stones.

Bird-watchers and nature lovers will be happy to know that the one mile walk between Pebble Beach and Bean Hollow Beach offers a close-up look at colonies of harbor seals and shorebirds.
