Orient Beach State Park
Orient, New York, United States

Orient Beach State Park features an expansive, sandy beach and one of the best maritime forests on the North Fork. Red cedar, blackjack oaks, and prickly pear cactus abound for miles in the wetlands of a strip of land that juts into Gardiner’s Bay. The beach, park, and playground area are located at the end of a 2-mile paved road that’s accessible from Route 25 with a parking pass. There is a $65 rate for annual passes for cars registered in New York State and $110 for out-of-state vehicles. $10 daily rate per car during summer months. Kayaking is the most popular activity here, although you can enjoy the wooden swings, nature trails for the more adventurous, canoeing, bicycle rentals, fishing, picnicking, snorkeling, and grilling. There are restrooms, a gift shop, and concessions, making this a great family place. No alcohol, fires, or pets allowed. Lifeguards are on duty from 10am-5:30pm, and the park closes at sunset.
