Okoromai Bay beach is located in Shakespear Regional Park. It is New Zealand's most popular and accessible open sanctuary. The area serves as conservation land to native plants and animals, mixed with an organic farm and public recreational space. Popular activities include swimming, fishing, boating, tramping, kayaking, and paragliding.

Amenities include campgrounds, toilets, picnic area with bbq's, water, boat ramp, parking, ranger office and contact phones. Limited mobility parking, toilets and paths are available.

This beach has received special status of green. The area is no longer monitored but has a history of excellent water quality.
