Nokomis Beach is the oldest beach maintained by Sarasota County. The beach dunes have have been preserved to maintain the beauty and integrity of the beach. Due to this effort, five walkovers have been constructed to allow visitor access to the beach without harming the dunes.

The beach is maintained with several amenities including lifeguards on duty year round, concession stands, picnic pavilions, restrooms and boat ramps.
