Nelson Lakeside Park Beach - Roped off Swim Area
Nelson, British Columbia, Canada
BEACH INFO:
Rotary Lakeside Park is the pride of Nelson's waterfront and encompasses almost every outdoor activity that you can imagine. A long, beautiful beach, wide promenade and large open green spaces highlight the area. Bocce ball and tennis courts, a boat launch, greenhouse, covered picnic shelter, a permanent labyrinth, public wharf and rowing club make up the main core of the park.
Rotary Lakeside Park offers a full-service concession during the summer months, and adjacent to the concession is the Rotary children's adventure playground. The labyrinth is available throughout the year with or without scheduled group walks. The Rotary barbeque shelter is available for rental, with bookings through the Regional District of Central Kootenay.
Continuing west along the waterfront pathway, you'll discover the barn that houses Nelson's Streetcar #23. The streetcar tracks lead along the waterfront all the way to the loop at the foot of Hall Street, and back through Rotary Lakeside Park to another loop at the east entrance of the park. From April to October, you can board Streetcar #23 and ride the circuit for a relaxing, historical tour.
The west end of the park accommodates the main City playing fields, as well as the new ActNow seniors' exercise area. Follow the Centennial Pathway along the water and back to the beach to round out your visit to Lakeside Park.
