Narrow Neck Beach
Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand
Narrow Neck is a suburb of Auckland. The area received its name from the illusion of a narrow neck the causeway created. Amenities at this sandy beach include basketball courts, sports facilities, boat launch and public toilets. The beach is accessible by public bus routes, has street parking and a public boat ramp. The western side of the causeway was a mangrove swamp. The swamp was drained and filled to be used as a racecourse in the late 19th century, until the 1930's when it became a golf course.
