Basin D in Marina Del Rey is known as “Mother’s Beach” and sits on a protected inlet of a non-ocean facing lagoon. There is a wide sandy space that opens to a protected swimming area, which provides a safe environment for children with no surf and a lifeguard on duty. A great location for family outings because there are many sheltered picnic tables and grills as well as a children’s’ playground and a pirate ship. There is a kayak, wind surfing, and paddle board entry area with a free boat launch area for hand carried boats. Great for viewing shy and gentle Leopard Sharks in season. Facilities include paid parking, restrooms, showers, handicapped access, beach equipment rentals, and bicycle rentals. This beach is monitored five days a week.
