Mewatha Beach on Skeleton Lake
Athabasca, Alberta, Canada

Skeleton Lake was named after the the Cree word "place of skeletons" because of a nearby elder burial. The long curved beach is home to the summer village of Mewatha Beach. The pristine white sands are a beautiful spot for swimming, fishing, and boating. Nearby, at the East end of Skeleton Lake there is another beach in the Bondiss Campground.
