The Breakwater Beach District Park is located on the west side of the Mattituck Inlet jetty. The Breakwater Beach is frequented by fishermen, families, and beach volleyball lovers during the summer. Don’t miss out on the dramatic sunsets! A large, roped-off section of the beach protects the endangered piping plovers during their nesting season. Hours are dawn to 10pm daily. There are lifeguards on duty during summer months from 11am-5pm daily. Restrooms are handicap-accessible and there are also beach wheelchairs available. A beach pass is required to park, $5 for residents and $15 for guests. No alcohol, fires, pets, or driving on the beach allowed. Playgrounds and picnic tables also available. This is a Tier II beach.
