One of Hawke's Bay's 'Top 5' swimming spots for water quality, Mahanga Beach is a sandy beach on the northeast of Mahia Peninsula. It is popular for swimming, surfing, and fishing. It has a small permanent and holiday community.

This beach is monitored fortnightly as historical water quality results show it has excellent water quality and is generally not affected by changes in the weather.
