Leo Carrillo boasts 1.5 miles of beach for surfing, swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, wind surfing, kite boarding, fishing, hiking, camping, and tide pooling. This is a great location where families and groups can enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities. Leo Carrillo, for whom the beach is named, served on the California Beach and Parks commission for 18 years and was an was an actor, preservationist, and conservationist. The beach is divided into two main sections, west/north and east/south. The western section is reached either by parking on PCH and hiking down a steep slope or by entering into the paid parking lot on the beach. The eastern section is easily accessed by parking on PCH or by parking in the roadside paid parking lot. Facilities include restrooms, showers, campgrounds, daily lifeguards, and handicapped access.
