Lawrencetown is a beach within a provincial park and is known for its rough surf. Waves can climb higher than 4 m, conditions that are excellent for surfers and bodyboarders but can be dangerous for swimmers. Visitors should exercise caution even in the supervised swimming area. For beginner surfers, there are surfboard rentals and lessons available on the beach. The beach hosts the September Storm Classic surf competition and the Kite Festival every year. The beach is found 23 km east of Dartmouth on route number 207. The beach has lots of parking, a canteen, a beautiful boardwalk, a canteen, washrooms and change rooms.
