Lake Roland exists within Lake Roland Park and used to operate as a reservoir until 1915. It is now used recreationally, from sunrise to sunset. Swimming and ice skating are not allowed in the lake. Canoeing, kayaking, and other non-motorized boating are allowed. In addition to the freshwater lake, the park features a number of hiking trails, a dog park, and a newly constructed nature centre that offers environmental programs.
