West Street Beach is near, but not synonymous with, Thousand Steps Beach and the beach at Aliso Creek. Some consider this a gay beach, but it is actually enjoyed by everyone, including families.

There is a steep staircase coming down, but the beach is clean, and the water is wonderful and clear. It is a private beach and can look secluded at times, but can also be very crowded depending on the time.

There are two lifeguard stations on each end of the beach. You can go diving here. There are small, rocky, tidepool areas on the south side. Parking is in the residential area, or on PCH. Even on a busy day, parking isn't that bad because most people don't go that far south.

Reminders: There is a 3-day rain advisory after each rain storm, use caution as bacteria levels can increase during this period. The County Environmental Health staff advises swimmers that levels of bacteria can rise significantly in ocean and bay waters adjacent to storm drains, creeks and rivers. Swimmers should avoid coastal waters impacted by discharging storm drains creeks and rivers, and beach users should avoid contact with any runoff on the beach during dry or wet weather conditions. As an extra precaution remain 500 ft away on either side from any outfalls.
