The beach is by far the most popular attraction in Kitty Hawk. There is a public restroom and parking lot at the Bath House. Lifeguards are on duty from 10 am to 7 pm, from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. Red flags will fly at the beach when swimming is prohibited, but this only happens when ocean conditions are very unsafe. Ignoring the warning can result in a fine up to $250. You cannot launch boats or other motorized watercraft from the land or beach at any time. Dogs are always allowed on the beach in Kitty Hawk, though during in-season they must be on a leash.
