Kidston Lake Beach is a fascinating place to visit; it is most popular amongst those who enjoy swimming in the lake. Kidston Lake Beach is located just 20 minutes outside of downtown Halifax (in Spryfield). Public transportation is an available and reliable option (however, walking will be required). There are also available parking spaces on-site.

Kidston Lake Beach has a modest sized beach area adjacent to the lake (the perimeter of which is lined with trees). Along the entrance point of the lake, there are also several boulders to sit down at (if you want to avoid sand sticking to you). Within the lake, there are two landmark boulders that swimmers often visit – The Rocking Stone and Breadloaf Point. The Rocking Stone got its nickname for being a 90-ton boulder which can be rocked with a lever. Breadloaf Point is on a separate side of the lake and is a narrow boulder which swimmers can treat like a destination point or a resting spot. From July 1 to August 31, there are lifeguards on duty at the beach area from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on fair weather days only. HRM facilities also offer recreational sports equipment to borrow while on the lake.
