Kerikeri River at Stone Store
Kerikeri, Northland, New Zealand

Rising in the Puketi Forest, the Kerikeri flows to the Kerikeri Inlet in the Pacific Ocean. It is less than 20 km long and accessible by water or the Kerikeri River Track which is about 3.5 km long. The track connects to Rainbow Falls, the basin and the Stone Store. Remains of one of the first hydroelectric power stations used in New Zealand can be seen from the track.
The Stone Store is the oldest surviving stone building in New Zealand. It was built in the 1830s to serve as part of the first Church Missionary Society's trading post. It was not profitable and converted into a library in the 1840s. It was later used as a kauri gum trading operation, boys school, store and eventually tourist attraction and is now a museum.
