Kelly Lake is in Downing Provincial Park and is stocked with rainbow trout. The park has 25 vehicle campsites and picnic areas. The lake is surrounded by beautiful mountain views, including the 2,245 metre Mount Bowman, giving the lake a feel of wild and isolation. Swimming is popular here.

In 2010, resulting from the Kelly Creek Wildfire in 2009, the public was advised of post fire events, such as landslides, heavy debris runoff, and flooding.
