Johnson Lake in Banff National Park
near Banff, Alberta, Canada
Johnson Lake is another beautiful mountain lake near Banff townsite. There is a sandy/pebbly beach area and picnic area that includes public washrooms and picnic tables. The water is chilly at the best of times so this is a July/August swimming opportunity. Whatever you do at this beach area, the views are fantastic. Photo credit to Chris Train from Flickr.
Driving Directions: Follow the Lake Minnewanka Road from the Trans-Canada Highway 1.0 km (0.6 mi) to the Lake Minnewanka-Johnson Lake road split. Turn right and continue 3.7 km (2.3 mi) to where the Johnson Lake side road.
