Jaybird Landing marks the transition between the Tallapoosa River and the beginning of Lake Martin. It is a public boat launch at the end of Boone Valley Road in Tallapoosa County. The road is gravel (actually coarse crushed granite) in good condition. Parking is available near the ramp where there is a turn-around area. The location is very remote and lacks developed facilities - no bathrooms. There is a sturdy fishing pier nearby the boat takeout point. Jaybird is a popular take-out point for canoers and kayakers that float down the river. The site is not heavily used by swimmers. Jaybird is shown on the Alabama Scenic River Trail website and various other Tallapoosa County tourism websites.
