Jacob Riis Beach
Queens, New York, United States
This is an official beach run by the US Parks Service facing the Atlantic Ocean. It is part of Gateway National Recreation Area. There are waves here but they've never been very strong.
There are lifeguards.
If there is wheelchair beach access, it likely doesn't go far enough.
There is a huge parking area. The parking fee was $10/car but is sometimes waived.
The area is also accessible by public transportation via the #2 subway and Q35 bus or NY Ferry to Rockaway Beach and a free shuttle. Many bike here.
There are many bathrooms and changing areas.
There are many vendors of food and other things. It may be like a flea market. There's a small golf course and a children's play area.
